The crater of Al-Waaba is a volcanic crater, 250 km from Taif. The bottom of the hole is covered with white sodium phosphate crystals. A great place for fans of exploration, adventure and hiking.
It was long believed that the hole was formed by a meteorite, and its appearance is similar to that of the so-called Barringer in the United States of America, a high-sided circular shape.

However, it is now recognized by geologists that the crater is the result of a large volcanic eruption and is believed to be due to the accumulation of rainwater at the bottom of the crater forming a shallow lake that does not leak into the ground.
The bright stars of the desert nights twinkle around the crater, creating an impressive landscape. It is a rare sight away from the lights and noise of the cities of Saudi Arabia.
Al Wahba Crater A deep crater in the ground with a circular diameter of 2 km and a depth of 800 km. So deep that when you throw a stone in the nozzle you will hear the sound of the impact after 6 seconds.
