The kingdom moved forward on the road to development; it introduced the cabinet system in 1958. Six years later, King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud assumed the throne with a vision of government modernization and administration. By 1969/1970 the Kingdom had developed the first development plan.

In 1975, King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud assumed the throne and supervised the growth and industrialization of the country, after which King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud assumed power in 1982 and continued to grow and modernize in the country. During his rule, the Shura Council was established in 1992, and after that he introduced the Municipal Law .

In 2003, the Shura Council was given the authority to propose new laws, and two years later the municipal elections were introduced in the country.

In 2015, King Salman bin Abdulaziz succeeded King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in power. Since King Salman took the throne, the kingdom has been on the path to prosperity and modernity.
